MUSAC HOUSE OF CARING started eight years ago with six boys.
At present there are ten(10) boys in the shelter. The orphanage
is located at 110 Phillips Street, Wellington, Sierra Leone. It provides
shelter, food, clothing, medical care and education for all ten (10) boys.
The children are taught responsibility, honesty, respect, caring and faith so they can develop ethics and character.
The target areas for selecting the children were the Refugee camps in Sierra Leone. Children in these camps were affected by the war and are orphans, homeless, abused or neglected children. Victims of the war have first priority for selection. Ages targeted are 6-18 years.
Duration is perpetual.
The orphanage cannot accept children in the following categories: Psychotic, homicidal, substance abusers, fire setters, sexual offenders, Chronic runaways and those who could be a danger to themselves or others.
Presently, the orphanage is doing very well. Our future plans are to increase MUSAC HOUSE OF CARING to 25 boys and 25 girls. An application has been sent to the Honorable Minister of Lands, Country Planning and the Environment in Sierra Leone, to acquire land for this purpose. We plan to start raising funds for the project in the near future.
